This is the third lesson in the C Major soloing series. The diagram below shows the third shape of the scale. There are five different main shapes for a certain scale.

Instructions

The C Major scale can be used over the whole jam track, which includes chords in the key of C. The shape presented above is called the third shape of the Major scale and is played in 12th position and spans four frets (you can choose to play it in open position instead, if you wish). If you're are familiar with the Phrygian scale, notice that this shape is identical with the E Phrygian in 12th (or open) position.
