The E Dorian consists of seven notes. It can be described in steps as a formula which is written as whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half step, whole step from the first note to first note in the next octave.
The E Dorian is the second mode of the D Major Scale, they contain the same notes, but starts on different notes.
Dorian has a Minor scale quality and its formula deviates with only one note, the 6th, compared to the Natural Minor.
